Kozan I posthumous works
[ - 1916(taisho 5)]
Designated as Teishitsugigei-in (imperial artist), and enjoying high acclaim both at home and abroad, Kozan I passed away in 1916 aged 75. Kozan II recalled that his father seemed to have preferred to make pieces in a sober and subtle style for the domestic market to ostentatious works for foreign markets. Observing his later works, it evidently has a simply gracious and traditional flavor. Such might have been the Kozan I finally discovered after his lifelong quest.
