Welcome to Miyagawa Kozan VR Museum.
In all honesty, we were reluctant to create a virtual museum. The conventional VR exhibition techniques tended to emphasize the technology itself, which made the artworks feel inorganic, and we feared that the audience would not be able to experience the artworks’ true atmosphere and understand our passion towards Makuzu ware.
This VR museum was realized under the supervision of Yuichi Ito, with cooperation from Keiji Ota. Yuichi Ito’s animation studio I.TOON is known for its stop motion animation, including the popular series “Knyacki!” Keiji Ota is president of Re-Invention, which creates cutting-edge digital content by fusing state-of-the-art technology with their expertise in ergonomics. As a result, we were able to create a virtual museum that not only lets visitors appreciate the works from multiple viewpoints, but also reflects the atmosphere of the actual museum and our passion towards the works.
After you have fully enjoyed the VR experience, we hope you will come to visit our museum in real life to view the Makuzu ware created by Kozan Miyagawa in early Meiji-era Yokohama, when the port had just opened to foreign trade.
